- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix (butter recipe style preferred)
- 4 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 (21 oz) can strawberry pie filling OR 2 cups fresh/frozen strawberries + ¼ cup sugar, mashed
- ½ cup sliced strawberries (optional, for extra fruit)
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 tbsp milk or cream
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, sour cream, and milk.
- Beat with a hand mixer for 2 minutes until smooth and thick.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared dish, spreading evenly.
- Dollop strawberry pie filling over the batter. Gently spread with a spoon.
- Sprinkle sliced strawberries (if using) over the top.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the strawberries.
