Strawberry Honeybun Cake – RecipesForYou

1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix (butter recipe style preferred)
4 large eggs
½ cup vegetable oil
½ cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
½ cup whole milk
1 (21 oz) can strawberry pie filling OR 2 cups fresh/frozen strawberries + ¼ cup sugar, mashed
½ cup sliced strawberries (optional, for extra fruit)
½ cup packed light brown sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tbsp milk or cream
½ tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, sour cream, and milk.
Beat with a hand mixer for 2 minutes until smooth and thick.
Pour half of the batter into the prepared dish, spreading evenly.
Dollop strawberry pie filling over the batter. Gently spread with a spoon.
Sprinkle sliced strawberries (if using) over the top.
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the strawberries.
